controller wont work with mod chip turned on?

I have an original xbox that I put an Xecuter mod chip and when the mod chip is turned on the controller wont work. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

well I've only got one controller, its brand new, and it works with the chip off

did you solder the Xecuter chip? if you did check for spatter if not then borrow someone elses controller
