i used 0603 leds and used a 10 omh resistor, basic pricinple ofr ohms is ohms law, V (voltage) = I (Current) x R (resistance) u re-arrange to get R = V/Ievery LED has a voltage rating, you don't want to put more then it's rated otherwise it will die, so a resistor decipates voltage as heat,you need to know the current to the point for the best calcs but for 5v (the ps3 controllers are 3.7v) 10 ohms is normally sufficient for normal led's but basicly when you put a resistor in a circuit, theres a voltage across the resistor , decreasing the voltage across the led
