new to modding any advice?

i would like to mod my psp, like to do a simple mod.  dont know much about modding, would like a easy mod with little or no risk of  *ing my psp up.  any advice would be great.  also a link to a good site where i can buy psp mod items(leds, wires, buttons,...).

Okay firstly learn soldering. And get all your basic electronics stuff from radioshack. Like soldering iron, solder, etc. To get more specific stuff like leds, psp parts, etc. You can get leds at ebay and psp parts from dealextreme.com. Some easy mods could include a usb charge mod. It's easy, but it requires soldering to the mobo so if you're careless or you have bad hand-eye coordination, then I wouldn't suggest it. Honestly, if you're careless or have bad hand-eye coordination, you shouldn't mod in general. So yeah I'd probably start off with the usb charge mod. Yeah that or the direct connected LEDs. Pretty hard to screw up your psp since you are only soldering to the speakers.

    Another easy mod that requires no soldering is changing the face plate to another color and perhaps another color set of buttons. Get the feel of opening the psp with hands on tools and get familiarize with all the internal parts and their locations. Good Luck..

Yes Crazy makes a good point. I forgot about that. Faceplates are cheap, easy to swap, and will give you a feel for opening up your psp.

thanks for the advice, i think im going to try to do all of it in this order buttons and dpad, leds, usb charge mod and then maybe custom jewel mod. 

ill post some picks once i get it working, if i dont break it.

I'd suggest that you buy an asterix flatblack faceplate (black matte instead of glossy) and then buy a set of buttons. It adds some nice flair that most don't have.
