WorkLog :Project Skate
« on: February 01, 2009, 08:16:42 PM »
I just finished exams on friday and started my project today on sunday. So far i disassembled the my 360,

Taped up my wireless adaptor, striped the wires which makes it fully ready to be soldered inside my 360,

And soldered 4 wire on to a ipod adaptor which will later be soldered to one of 360's usb sockets.

That all i could do today but tomorrow i plan on cutting a window shaped like a skater doing a heelflip, And if i have time painting the case black and orange. Then the next day i plan on put a VGA port on the back and installing pleksi glass with leds. I will post my progress at the end of ever day i do something.

sounds like a cool project - i do got a suggestion for you if you are good at soldering.

if you desolder one of the usb ports and get a usb hub and solder the connector to where you just desoldered the 360's usb port and then solder one port of the hub to the usb you just desoldered and the ipod and 360 wireless adapter to the other ports on the hub and make it all internal so that way you still get the use of the external usb ports on your 360 instead of not been able to use then with there been stuff attached internally

i am not responsible for what i do or my advice

What Robin said, and I'll just add in that it's much better to disassemble the adapter and wire that up internally without the casing on it, and just make the antenna external. Like, have it plug in to a small plug on the back, this way you won't lose reception because it's internal.

First of all thx for your advise PspKicks316 and Mactastic Mendez
both you ideas are good but in case there really is no point of ether.  Firstly PspKicks316 my router is like 4 meters away from my 360 so connection souldnt be a problem and really a cm of plastic isn't really going to do much to connection anyways.  Secondly Mactastic Mendez idea about the internal usb hub its a good idea. I had that same idea be for but i decide i only really need 1 usb slot because I have a one external hub with four sockets so i can play rock band with four people. Just in case i need 5 sockets for what ever reason i cant think of any. Im going to install a switch on ipod adaptor. Any other advise would be appreciated.

I have not done much today because i didnt have time but i did get my VGA port ready.

What are the switches for? Also, how did you paint the power button?

For spraying i just wet sanded with 600 grip paper 1 coat of adhesion promoter and 3 coats on dupli color chevy organ engine enamel.
The switch are mostly for show 1 turns off all leds 3 are for red blue and green 2 are for turning off wireless and ipod charger the rest dont do any thing mite use them later. I would sell it for good prices because i got an idea for another mod.
