« on: March 10, 2009, 08:12:37 PM »
I'm going to hack my cousins psp and hook it up for him. Thats easy its just the psp will not connect to any usb it just says please wait i have left it alone for an hour and it does nothing.i have tried to connect it to 2 different computer and a ps3 still the same results. I'm pretty sure its not the usb cord. All answers appreciated thanks

Has the   USB charge mid been done to it? If so it may have been done incorrectly causing the USB not to function.

Well if your computer dosent have a memstick reader then that dosent help.
The advice I would give to you is this:

Open the psp down to the motherboard, look at the USB and make sure all the pins are there and are straight.

Take a picture of it if possible and post it on here. It's much easier to diagnose a problem when you can see it.

ok but i wanted opening the psp to be my last resort but thanks for all the replies. Also the memory card reader i dont now if that would work if it had trouble connecting the the usb then it could have trouble with the whole memory function. It could be related.

I would suggest the card reader. If the card reader doesn't work, get a new card.
Fairly sure it is the mobo.

As a last resort I would take apart the usb cord. If it is a 2in1 cord (charge and usb), they have a history of wires shorting or being pulled apart from a small board that redirects all of the wires inside.

if the other suggestions does not work and you end up opening it up just do what rceckspurt13 said. and just make sure everything is in place, if something is loose, a quick soldering should fix it.
