I was just playing (attempting)  with that concept with my phat.  It's a bit hard to heat up the solder and move those tiny legs up.  Its a pain in the ass trying to fit some tools around there.  The room is just really tight to maneuver around.  Now if the switch was out in the open it would be simple.

But yeah you can simply just isolate the ground from the common leg (center leg), then just ground the pad that enables the wifi.

On the fat you don't need to waste so much time removing the switch you could just Cut the traces linking to the switch's ground after just link the together with a piece of wire.  :w00t:

Hmm will it take a while to heat the solder enough to take it off? Could I overheat anything?

The solder will melt right away.  The downfall with this is u run the risk of lifting up the pads and ruining that mobo section there.  That's why I guess this isn't a common thing guys do.

Took a close up pic on a phat WLAN switch and you can see the center pin is the ground, which is a big ground plane.  The bottom one goes to enable WLAN and the top is floating i guess.
