Custom PSP PHAT Power Button by kewlhotrod
IntroductionThis is a tutorial walking you through on how to make your own button to turn on/off your PSP instead of using the original slide switch.
This is an excellent way to turn on your PSP if your power switch broke off. No more will you have to carry around a toothpick or anything of that sort.
Parts Needed - PSP Phat Starter Chip
- Solder. Preferred Rosin Core.
- Small Tact Switch
- 30 Guage Wire. Kynar or AWG, doesn't matter.
Tools Needed Difficulty rating: 2/5
Average Time to Complete: 10-20 mins
Step By Step TutorialAlright, first thing you are going to do is cut off two pieces of wire, about 2 inches long, and strip a tiny bit of wire at the end. Strip just enough to allow good contact.
After that you're going to flux, if you have it, the wire and add some solder to your iron. Afterwards touch your iron to the wires, until both ends of both wires are completely tinned, (grey).
Now, if you have it you are going to flux the tiny pins on the tact switch and the pins on the powerswitch, and tin them. You will then solder the wires onto the spots you have just fluxed, and voila, you're done. Piece back your PSP and and give it a test run.
The final product should look roughly like this:
