Help, cr-3100 not working!!!
« on: April 04, 2009, 07:30:31 PM »
Hi all,
been a while since I've posted anything here... Or done anything PSP related...
Anyways, I just got my photofast cr3100 in the mail, and am eager to do the internal sd mod. So I ripped the casing off, and inserted a 8GB SDHC and a 2GB SD. When I inserted it into my psp, my PSP wouldn't boot :censored:. It was kinda like a brick, except for that it wasn't since it would boot perfectly fine without anything in the slot, or with my pro duos. I think that it has to do with how the ribbon was soldered onto the board, but I'm not sure. So...uhh yeah...help? :help:

Thanks.
BTW, I tried using search.

Did you format the cards on your computer?

Thanks for the quick reply.
yes.
I forgot to mention that it worked before I took it out of the case.
That was when I formatted it.
Then, when I removed the case, it only read one SD.
After looking around it to see wha was causing it, the thing stopped working period.

Edit: Now, The psp does that random orange blinking thing when I insert it, and it doesn't automatically turn of like it did earlier.

I remember seeing a thread about the cr-3100 doing that... Anyway yea you might've broken the thing when you took it out of the case.

Alright, now I'm 100% sure that the ribbon was messed up since it just fell off.
Now, my second question is can I use electrical tape to tape the ribbon back on after exposing the wires? (Sorry, but I'm a noob at circuitry.)

Depends... If you can get a good connection, I guess, but the best idea would be to solder it back on. Assuming you still CAN solder it. Pictures would be nice.

Alright, here's some pics.

I'm thinking that I'll just try to solder it back on later, but other suggestions would be nice. ( I'm not exactly the best at soldering; haven't even done the LED trigger mod or anything like that yet...)

Just solder them back up.  The taping only will you problems later on with it.
