LM386 Diagram
« on: April 06, 2009, 12:28:12 AM »
Hi there.

Here's (yet) another circuit diagram that I just want to quickly run through with you. I'm doing the LM386 mod with a stereo effect, so I'm using two LM386s. The only thing I'm really concerned about is the resistance, as there are 6 LEDs running off the 5v source, and two of them aren't using the LM386.

Thanks in advance   :victory:

can you show me the data for the leds you are planning to use, then we can caculate a apropriate resistance. you may need 100ohm+

OK, here's the data:

Quote

Technical Spec
Source Material: AlGaInP
Emitting Colour: Yellow
Emitting Wavelength (nm): 585-595
Size: 1.2 x 0.8 mm
Intensity (mcd): 60-100
Viewing Angle (deg): 120
Forward Voltage (V): 1.8-2.4
Forward Current (mA): 20-30

For the two leds not running off an amp, you could use an 180ohm resistor and run the leds in parallel, or an 82ohm resistor and run the leds in series. As for the amps, I'm not sure because i don't know the voltage coming off of those.

Running them in series would be a daft idea, basic physics tells us that the second led in the circut will be dimmer in series.

For the leds not using an amp and just solid on, use an 180ohm resistor and run the leds in parallel.

Thanks again guys .

So, in the end the diagram looks like...

Time to start ordering parts.....
