LED mod question
« on: April 21, 2009, 04:22:08 PM »
I have just recently stumbled onto this site and am thinking of modding my roomates ps3 controllers with LEDs.  I have noticed that most people show pics of the indicator LED mods and maybe say the brightness (0603 or 1206 and so on) but what I sont see is the actual size of the smd LEDs.  I order all my parts from places like jameco.com and digikey.com and they offer different sizes.  I know they are only milimeter differences but im not sure if that could casue problems.  Here is an example of the search page on digikey.com http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Cat=524729&keywords=0603%20led and it is the lense style/size im interested in.  Thanks in advance for the input.

0603 IS the size. Brightness is MCD, but MCD isn't directly related to brightness... Idk it's confusing, just choose a colour, and as long as it's a single colour 0603 led that isn't right angle, then you should be fine.

mmmkay good to know, I figured it wasnt the size only becasue there were different variations on the site, but as long as any of them will work then thats al lthat matters.  Thanks fer the repy.

ebay.com
phenoptix.co.uk
