PSP Vu Meter Mod ( A first I think )
« on: March 26, 2009, 03:48:07 AM »
Heya Peeps

First post here.

Trigger light mod using SMD Green LEDs driven through a PNP transistor.

VU Mod using a LB1443N 5 LED VU Meter display driver driving SMD ultra bright LEDs.
Yellow led's were included on the first attempt but a Short to ground when refixing the top cover released all the stored smoke from within them  so i replaced them with more red ones, i managed to Squeeze the chip in to the space where the UMD door spring is located,
Some plastic had to be removed and the White plastic box that stops the spring coming out is now fixed with Superglue.

My Next addition to this is 2 x phone vibrate motors driven through PNP transistors connected to the 4th leds on the vu display.

Please excuse the vid quality ( web cam used)

Heya M8

wheres the tut

I will try take some photos while doing the other mods and do a tut for it.

where u buy from

all parts can be sourced on Ebay.

I have it all in bits again adding the Vibration feedback, ive also removed the UMD assembly as m33 firmware rendered it useless to me. so with all the extra room im adding an audio amp and base speaker to the rear and some more lights.

will post the mods when finished.

My Ultimate aim is to have a psp modded to the hilt BUT when turned off it will look like any other factory standard psp ( although the holes in the UMD door will make it look a little different).

It's nice, but would have been better if you took off the blue and the lime green LEDs on the very ends/triggers.

So it would go

green, green, yellow, yellow, red, red, yellow, yellow, green, green,

Clean mod dude!

And its not first time, i know f00 did it :D
But f00 used a LM324 Quad Op Amp IC to drive his LED;s.

But impressive and nice placement :)

Just search out the IC name, read the datasheet and wire it yourself

Hi M8

ok ive done Vu mod, Rumble and Trigg lights with some web cam shots of stages, i will try to do a tut ( so far ) and add to it as i do more to it .

the vu mod with the lights across the top is not a mod for the faint hearted. the only way i can get the psp to shut is by using fine single strand coated copper wire.
