Make your old Xbox controller into a USB Game pad!
« on: December 27, 2008, 01:24:42 PM »
Ok, so you love your Xbox Gamepad, and want to be able to use it for your PC games huh..   Well this article will teach you how to make that extra Xbox controller you got lying around into a USB Game pad with rumble features and everything!

Materials

    * An old Xbox controller
    * A 1.1 male USB Cable (Not sure about the other cables I’ve only tested this 1)
    * Scissors / Wire cutters
    * Solder / Electrical tape
    * And these Drivers XBCDv107:

XBCD - XBox Controller Driver SITE: http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html

First cut the square (NOT RECTANGLE!) end of the USB cable of exposing the cables:

Leave it aside for now and cut the Xbox controller wire off exposing its cables.  Set the yellow one aside because you won’t use it:

Solder the wires color to color making sure that no wires touch each other. Use the electrical tape to prevent contacts, & to clean it up. Close it all up and plug it in. Windows will detect it but won’t be able to install it. That’s where the drivers come in, download the newest version which is an .exe it will install the correct drivers into the OS so that when it detects it you can install automatically instead of the manual (install from specific location). With those drivers every program that uses game pads will detect it, without difficulties. Have fun.

frostBYTE!: I thought I might put a video of it working for you.

 I used XPadder to use it in AssualtCube.

A quote from my post in PC.

Basically, I modded my xbox controller to work on my PC. Yes, I know this isn't new and has been done plenty of times before, but hey, who cares? And I know this is a VERY messy job. I just wanted to get it finished so I wasn't really worried about asthetics.

A bit later I might upload a video of me playing urban terror with it (if that supports gamepads).

EDIT: I used XPadder to use it in AssualtCube.
