A few questions about modding
« on: March 15, 2009, 02:14:40 AM »
I want to mod my DS Phat to have sound reactive leds on the cover of the top part of the DS (where this guy has his DS symbol at).

Would anyone mind telling me where I could find the 0603 LEDs for it, along with anything else that I might need? Links are helpful too.

Thanks guy for replying :)

Another question, I found these red 0603 leds on Ebay for a good price, but I want to make sure those are the right ones that I need. Also, what does SMD stand for? I see it in almost all the product descriptions.

uh...ebay is fine in general as long as you find someone with good feedback, and smd stands for surface mount devices.

justins right i buy from ebay and have had no problems, i also buy leds (3mm tho) from ebay and there located in hong kong and it arrives exactly as described. So i would  suggest giving ebay a try

If you dont want to trust ebay, you can buy 0603 leds at www.uniqueleds.com, I buy 0603 leds from them all the time and they ship fast. AS for those red leds yes they are the ones that you will be needing

ebay has been a great source for my modding needs as the other shops i used to get them at have since closed.

just make sure the seller is reputable and you should have no worries.

it's the waiting time that is most negative part

I have used www.phenoptix.co.uk a few times. They do have an ebay store but its a bit cheaper from their site. All PayPal linked so you do have some protection.
