PC Build?
« on: June 03, 2009, 09:12:54 PM »
Well im starting to save for a PC Build. im wanting you to list a good/moderately priced graphics card, CPU, and motherboard that would be good for a little gaming and some photoshoping.

Also tell me which case you like the most

sorry man i don't like any of the cases. LOTS of plastic and flimsy steel.

you need to set your eyes on the lian li, silver stone, cooler masters, or antec line of cases. there going to run you any ware from $20 to $100 dollars more but they have amazing build quality and a massive potential for modification

The Scout is my favorite case so far. Next to the Thermaltake Xaser vi (6)...But that may be a little too ricer in a way. I've not decided yet

Would you like to use Intel, or AMD?

I am an AMD man myself considering the price/performance ratio.
If you want to pay more to get the (same) specs, go with Intel

If you want to get a good processor, an AMD processor is generally less and you can overclock (if you need)

In my opinion nobody really needs to run over 3.5ghz. Except for bragging rights that you spent more on useless speed

But there are exceptions to this. You can get really good deals, things go on sale, or you just are crazy about overclocking. I am currently running 3.0ghz so far on my Pc Build.

If you are thinking Intel, I say this may be a good start if you don't mind spending a little bit more

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130370

As for an AMD build
I have this motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186150
Fairly good rating. I absolutely love it. The bios is both simple, but very feature filled. The installation disc comes with all the drivers( of course ) and some other programs. One of the included programs is for overclocking and fan control. The onboard video is good to watch HD videos on youtube etc.

I would also recommend the same video card, but I may be able to find a cheaper one that would help you out

For a processor...hmm
I'm thinking:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103773

That processor has great reviews and good overclocking results. If you have any specific specification for your build, let me know and I'll try and find some stuff for you

Well, today I just built in the scout, my only complaint was where the 24 pin is the back panel is blocked of, but coolermaster had that fixed with the routing place to run it up and zip tie. I have the 9950 processor and it is apparently pretty close in games with the phenom II 925 when clocked to the same speeds. And I also have a foxcon motherboard, it is pretty nice.  Looks amazing in that case imho. Well that is my 2 cents, let me know if you want to know anything else.

That's not a bad case dude. I like the cases that have the psu at the bottom. It looks better for cable management IMO

The fact that it's a Lian Li is also a plus

Have you figured out what type video card to go with? Or are you using the onboard video

I was considering a Wlan card for my build but haven't decided yet.
But, so far I'm impressed with the onboard graphics. Supports Dvi, VGA, and HDMI right out of the box.

I'll either buy that graphics card, or just sell my rig using the onboard graphics. Not sure what I want to do

BTW: Are you starting from scratch or are you building a compy using existing parts you have?
