Future of custom firmware.
« on: June 06, 2009, 09:07:27 AM »
Post what you think the future of custom firmware will be (especially on the psp go).

I think that there will not be custom firmware on the psp Go I think that all there will either be just homebrew enablers for every official firmware that will let you play homebrew in the official firmware. The second thing that might happen is that sony said that they will decrease the price of the tools you need to make psp games and if it is enough then people who make homebrew will buy the tools to make psp games and then the applications like psp tube will be able to run on any psp.

That...no.

The HEN idea just isn't something they would do.
The tools? Yeah, that's just not happening. Besides, I hope you realize they would need to be Sony approved. No homebrew apps would be approved by sony to be developed for it.

No individual has access to the Sony tools , i hope the go gets homebrew but its probably not happening. the best they might come up with might be something like the current HEN....

ditto.  It runs the same firmware and sdk so the chance of it getting hacked is high.

The maximum we can expect is something like chickHEN. Due to hardware restrictions made on the 3000 hardware , access to flash 0 is either impossible/dangerous and i'm certain that they would have made it tougher on the go...

It's not impossible/dangerous... A code of some sort has just been added. They just haven't cracked it yet =\

nah , they said that its sorta dangerous coz its really really easy to brick right now and there is no pandora for 3k.... So its not really recommended. This is why the chickHEN has to be reloaded after every cold-boot.

Yeah, because a PSP would use AAA batteries and last like 6-8 hours.
Wow.

I'm pretty sure you can just use the normal pandora battery... You just have no code for it to boot.

Any pandora will turn in the Power light.

That doesn't mean that it forced the PSP into service mode  to read the IPL off of the memory stick.
