Guide on using the forums functions! *EVERYONE READ THIS**IMPORTANT INFO*!

It seems to me that a lot of people can't use the basic functions of this forums, so I will give a quick tutorial...

Linking!

there are 2 ways to link things on the forums
1. Highlight the text you want to link and then click
your code should look like this

Code: [Select]

[url]The link here.com[/url]
Your result should look like this
www.acidmods.com

2.  The more advanced way to link requires you to manually put in the code.  It allows you to use text that redirects you instead of the link's actual text.
Suppose you wanted to link to the search function, you can type this

[url=https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?action=search]Search Function[/url]
This method requres you to type

[url=*****.com]text here[/url]The result looks like this

Inserting Images

To insert a picture into a post/reply, you need to get the source of the picture, which you can find by right clicking the picture and copying its "image location" (make sure its not copyrighted).  You then paste the source url and highlight it, then click this When doing this please make sure the images are not huge.

For instance to get this image



You would need to have this code

Inserting youtube videos

In order to embed a youtube video into a post/reply, all you need to do is find the code for the video.  For instance suppose I wanted to insert this video *http://youtube.com/watch?v=y8t5bzSocbc* all you need is the text after the v=
Take that code, copy it into the post/reply and highlight it, then click this

The code should look like this

Inserting a flash video

Before I show how this is done, please be considerate of other posters if the flash automatically starts, try to keep flash videos in your own new topics.

Take the source url of the flash, highlight it and click this button

Your code should look like this

[flash=200,200]***Flash url here ***[/flash]
Notice the 200,200 thats the size of the video, i personallt change it to 480,480 to make it easier to see

Changing text size, color, location, and other properties

To make text larger or smaller all you need to do is highlight the text and click this

The result is this

[size=10pt]Text here[/size]The default text size of 10 can now be changed.  Try to keep it manageable for others to read.

To change the color of text all you need to do is highlight it and click the drop down menu for change color above the emoticons/smilies

To center, left align and right align text all you need to do is highlight the text and click one of these buttons

To Bold, italicize or underline, the buttons are located at the top left of the list of options. All you need to do is highlight the text and click the appropriate button.

That covers just about everything useful.

Now onto the tutorial!!

Step 1:

Open up your default intarweb browser and type in "www.acidmods.com" for your convenience, heres a link: www.acidmods.com

Step 2:

Click the Word "FORUM" on the navbar

Step 3:

Click the Word "Search" on the forum navbar

Step 4:
You are now in the search function Page!! Now heres how it works, the first action you make, like on any search engine, is type some text relevant to what you want to find out.

Step 5a:
There are many options available for making your search a success The first is how exact you want your results to be, you can choose to have ALL words searched match or any of the words match, the second being less exact but if the first gets no results then its a good idea

Step 5b:
If you know the name of user who has asked the same question while randomly browsing or if you know of someone experienced who may have answered the question before, enter the username of that person in this box, or if you want the most results possible (Probably not a bad thing leave the aterix there

Step 5c:
You can even pick how OLD you want your results to be

Step 5d:
Also select if you just want the names of topics searched, or individual messages searched, for more exact results, pick topics

Step 5e:
Then select how you want your results ordered, we'll leave more relevant results first there but the other options speak for themselves and why you would use them

Step 5f:
Now heres the big part, WHERE DUZ I WANT RESULTS FROM?? , well you will see a series of text lines and checked boxes, if you want results from everywhere leave them ALL checked, if you want results from say the PSP Section, click "Check All" and they will all uncheck, then check the PSP section

Step 6:
Click Search

Step 7:
Browse Results!!
