speaker question

i recently did a mod and put a giant speaker in the umd tray i took both stock speakers out and i only used the right negative and positive power to power the speaker and some leds should i have hooked the left neg and pos wires to the speaker to make it mono? and will it give it more power? make the leds brighter make the speaker louder ect. thanks! oh yea i will post pictures later.
