hole in psp battery HELP!
« on: August 05, 2009, 01:16:45 PM »
Ok so I was opening my new battery for psp phat and I made a hole in the metal part of the psp battery (something that I think is acid...)

Click this link for full size image - http://i25.tinypic.com/iomdyu.jpg

So what should I do to cover it up? I used a knife to close it and it made smoke and I actually touched it and it actually burnt.  Should I leave it alone and close the battery? Is it safe to charge the battery?

Throw it out, you destroyed the battery. If you try and charge it, chances are you risk it exploding. Stop being retarded and get rid of it. Common sense says when you BURST A BATTERY and it BURNS AND SMOKES, it's not safe.

No offense, but you seriously have to be a full blown retard to keep using that battery.

Chuck it and get a new one, or risk killing your psp, the battery blowing up, etc.

especially because its a lithium battery. those go up in smoke and flames. they often cause injuries from laptop batteries.

Or like that time that kid had his PSP in his pocket and it went on fire because the battery exploded and he had to go to hospital to get treated for burns.

That's because YOU BROKE THE BATTERY.

T.T

Throw out the battery, it's useless, a health hazard, and extremely dangerous. What don't you get?

To hack another psp, all I have to do is connect the ac adapter and put in the battery for 2 seconds and take it out xD im thinking of keeping it cause I hate to go to my friends house and use the pandora battery that I made for him.

Ok so it started to smoke again out of no where in my rooma and I decided to throw it on the empty house lot next to my house.  Something bad's going to happen when they're going to start building a house there

ok let me make this a little clear with some explanation and I hope you get it.  Lithium ion batteries are filled with lithium(pretty simple).  Lithium is one of the most violently reactive chemicals on the periodic table.  It is so reactive that when it is exposed to air it reacts with the oxygen (combustion aka caching fire) in the air to make Lithium oxide.  Otherwise it is nicely sealed(away from oxygen) but since that you have made a hole in the seal, the chances of catching fire are dangerously high. And so to dispose it I suggest that you drop it off at a battery disposal site in your town (radioshack/ the shack people usually participate in disposal programs) and if you can't find any throw it away where you think if it explodes it will not do any damage, for example as you said before bury it deep.... less O2 inside the ground less chances of explosions.  Or last, look up on google, there must be some other proper guidelines.
Have a good day.

okay ... I'll try to compile a list of basic precautions. Then we can all pitch in the thread. When it's complete we can sticky it.
