Ps2 via Capture/Tuner card
« on: August 12, 2009, 06:26:29 PM »
I need help finding a decent one so I can hook up my Ps2/Ps3/Xbox to my computer and play on my monitor via WMP or something of the sort.  I'm running Vista 64 so I need to be a little more careful about what I get and will probably be upgrading to Windows 7 when it's released.  I don't know much about tuner/capture cards, so information would help a LOT.  I just don't think I can use one that's PCI-E...my Graphics card takes up a lot of space, xD.  Links to newegg/tigerdirect would be nice.  Like I said, I don't know too much about this stuff.  I'd prefer an internal one as  to an external because internal is cheaper.  I will look at external as well though.  By the way, which is better for this, Capture or tuner...unless there's a card that does both very very well, Lmao

Thanks guys!

ima noob when it comes to this stuff, but the one thing that worries me is lag of both a capture card or a tuner. You are putting more circuitry between ur xbox and your monitor so the question isnt if there is or isnt lag... it is how much you can tolerate and still be able to play the game.

I would suspect that 1/3 of a second lag (300mS) would be the very top end of what is usable(even then in multiplayer that will get you killed more often then not).  30mS would not be too noticeable.  Just something think about.

I don't have live, xD Really it's just so I can get the consoles out of the living room.  I play them all day and it bothers my parents, lmao...it's summer vacation, what else is there to do?  I've been looking at this card though, it seems to be pretty nice!

I only have one PCI slot, so I need a PCI-e card.  I was going to buy a PCI one until I looked at my MB, xD
