PS3 Blu Ray drive replacement questions
« on: September 06, 2009, 10:26:08 PM »
OK well I'm in the market for a PS3, and I found a 60GB PS3 on Craiglist locally that I am scheduled to buy/pick up on Tuesday for 60$. Supposedly all that wrong is that it doesnt read disks and the person failed to replaced the laser correctly....

I'm not sure what the extent of the damage might be to the Blu Ray drive. As long as the contoller is in tact, I'm thinking I should be good. Does anyone have any resources to purchase an OEM or aftermarket Blu Ray drive innexpensivly. I'd be interested in a refurb as long as the price was relative. There are idiots on ebay selling refurbed drives for $150... A new PS3 is only $300...

Any offers?

look for broken PS3's in your area with the YLOD. I could have got a PS3 that had the YLOD for $50. The blu-ray drive will be fine in them. The YLOD only includes problems with the motherboard and the power supply so try to find a PS3 with the YLOD. It's your best bet
