Patch is now live for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on PS3. Fixes hacking in public matches, also snuck in a fix for rapid fire mods.
This new PS3 patch for COD4 is a totally new beast. They've re-done all the internal programming of the game. If you try to just use your finger, you can't even fire very fast anymore. It's not just rapid fire that's affected in COD4, it's all fire. Even try using it in an offline game. I'm assuming they're gonna use the same scheme for modern warfare 2, where internal game programming is gonna limit the speeds, not network patches. This was an actual game patch, not a network filter.
Interesting. I'll look later when I play.Post Merge: September 03, 2009, 07:32:40 AMIt's limited. CRAP.
I been using burst and it still works.
Let's see a video of that. I doubt it's fast.
the fastest COD4 right now is 6.6 SPS .. which is very chopy
Got to give credit to IW for their new patch, seems rather than penalise RF controllers by doing the COD5 1sps, they have programmed every weapon to have a max fire rate. So regardless of how fast above the max rate your code goes, it'll only shoot at the max rate programmed by them for that weapon. In my spilt screen testing I found you do have a choice on 'stutter v speed'. If you go with say 10sps you'll feel less stutter on the pistols and G3, however you lose speed like-for-like against the G36, SAWs etc.
I can vouch for him. I have the same chip as him. It's fast and works fine.
I asked for a video, not your agreement. I want to see, rather than hear from someone how fast it is.Vouch Fail
Ok - I had to update COD 4 earlier today, but I haven't got any controllers with mods :/ so I cant tell if any patch is active, i seem to be able to fire quite quick with my pistol, but thats about it.
Nobody can pull a trigger faster than 5 times a second. And I am not talking about a controller trigger. Stock option on most firearms are speced to have a certain amount of ft-lb pull. This is to keep the wepaon from 'double-shotting' and help increase control.Even the most trained professional will keep his rate of fire to a certain maximum (like 2-3 shots per second) in order to keep control of the weapon. And before the response of "Too realistic ruins the fun" arguement is mentioned again, why are you not selecting the full auto weapons in the first place? They have more rounds. Or do you just preffer the fact that RF makes what is considered a useless rifle into a non-recoil death-stick?
Stock option on most firearms
And lastly, last I knew the COD series was a Competitive FPS video game, not a Real Life Warfare/Weapon Simulator used to train soldiers.....
Ahem:Any weapon can be fully automatic with aftermarket parts. What has that got to do with anything?Actually, I thought it was a game to pretend your part of a military outfit, performing military operations, with military issue equipment. I also know for a fact that the military does not allow custom hardware since everyone gets trained on standard issue and if someone were to become a casualty thier weapon needs to be the same for everyone in case a teamate needs to use it (and they dont have to worry about how it got customized).
OK.Your right. I'm wrong.You win.
