I have a computer class at school that's pretty easy, and I've already finished the project for this marking period. (So has half the class.) It gets pretty boring and we used to have counter strike on the computers last year, but they were upgraded to Windows 7 and the game was deleted.

My question is where can I get a version of Counter Strike that doesn't need a key and can be played locally on a few computers (I don't want it to require Steam)? I asked here because I don't want to download a virus and put it on our school's computers by accident.

The one i use is from steam but ill ask around i know there some out there with good reviews for downloading.

idk but some of my buddys installed steam on 5 computers at school and would play but one failed hardcore and got the blue screen of death

lol at my old high school.
we would have lan partys at school from when school ended to 12
the graphical computers for autocad and photoshopping and the egineering computers were all in one big block of the school and all of which had unreal tournament, counter strike, and doom3

Dude same here in my computer repair class we set up like 8 computers in the back played the class and even our teacher played.

does it matter if I have Steam? I didn't really want to install Steam because the instructor might be less likely to OK it if we have to install that program.

not long simply because i didnt have to do many.
some were missing i prolly helped do like 10. we can do like 50 installs from one pc

OH you just copied the game it self and installed it on to each PC.

Funny you're asking this, because I was just about to ask the same thing. I'm the new techy-in-training at my school so I pretty much help to set up everything for assemblies, presentations, etc. And next friday, they're setting up a movie so while the movie is playing, I need something to do and the current techy recommended CS portable. Gotta download it and give it a try

Wow..... My school SUCKS. We can't even afford Photoshop on our school PCs. We use Paint Shop D: Although we do have a 2 CNCs.

What ryan said, we had that on the school servers. And we used to play it all the time before it got deleted.

Ok I tried the link that you gave for the download and the game seems to install fine but whenever I try to create a game it says, "Fatal Error- Unable to load authentication library. Exiting..."
Any ideas?

Also showed up as a virus and my computer decided to quarantine it >.>

I heard most portable games will show up as viruses, so i'm not too worried about that, but the fact that my computer auto-quarintined it kinda pisses me off lol.
