Xbox 360 DVD Mod

Hey guys, I'm new to the 360 scene (bought my box today) and have been reading about modding it to play backups. I basically understand that you need to mod the DVD Drive in some fashion, but am not sure where to start. If at all possible, I would like AVOID cracking it open (but I'm pretty sure you have to). I just got one of the Elite's (yay for price drop to $299!)

That phrase "crack it open" sounds familiar......... Anyways...... there are tons of tuts out there.
Please read them all to understand. I have been reading all of them for months now and still have not flashed my boxes yet. read the tuts here and the ones from xbox-scene and 360mods.net. Oh yeah
don't come back here with a post like....omgwtf i fuxxrd my dvd drive....halp.....

40_Ounce, please stop linking new comers to other forums, and if you do, make sure it is actually specific. not"go look in the library", he is asking for direct help

Also, you MUST open your xbox to flash the drive to play backups.

treemty is the man in this area.. I was going to refure you to the1337group.com, bit it looks like they have shut down. you can get http://www.prestige-mods.com/ to do it but it cost like $95 bucks.

yeah, our server is down.the1337group.com) if you pm me, we charge $30 plus shipping to flash your drive( its $20 if you know how to take apart your xbox already) but that covers flashing, and if you want we can send you a backup of your drive keys.
we are the cheapest on the market :D

Thanks for the help you guys, but I decided to return my Xbox as I didn't realize you had to open it...I thought there were mods you could do without opening it.
