Intensafire + xcm lighted shell =?
« on: October 09, 2009, 04:05:19 AM »
Does the intensafire work with the xcm lighted shells?  From glancing at the instructions it looks like they use the same solder points, can alternates be used for the lights or vice versa?

its hard to say, as I have not tried, the way instafire fits if installed properly, it will sit down flush with the mobo, then soldering the lighted case on top would be feasable, but LLamma states it will not work.

Thanks for the quick reply, I guess I'll give it a shot since I already bought both without doing enough research, as usual.  :hifive:

like I said, install the instafire first, and make sure to press it down firmly against the mobo. I layed it in place and pressed each solder point down with my iron, reheating the existing microsoft solder.

Yeah hopefully that'll work but the llama guy certainly has more experience with this type of stuff than me so I'm not overly optimistic.  I'll definitely give it a shot and I'll report back with my results for anyone that might care.

Edit - This guy seems to have it working

Well i would think it would but i have not able to get a XCM case to test ... both have been lost in the mail ...

my luck ...  far as i can tell you may have to relocate the ground point in xcm where it hooks up to the trigger pins

or it will make all your leds to flicker every time you fire .. should be a simple relocation ... will have update once i get the

new case ... if not we may make a board just for XCM case ..  :#1:

Thanks for the info.  What would you choose for a new ground point for the xcm?  I'm fairly certain I have the cg board.

I think I'll try putting the ground on the one listed here

Does anyone know what the hell K stands for in this shot of the xcm installation?

the only thing i would suggest with xcm case and intensafire, is to leave the sync on your intesafire not connected and install the push button instead.  It is my understanding that XCM uses sync as well so there will be a conflict of functions.  Since there is a button install option on the intesafire, use that to controll and leave sync for xcm.

not sure what different ground would do...

odd...the K point is v+ idk why they need two? k is on the top trigger pin correct? if so that is positive voltage equal to battery supply

K is not exactly +V.... I think it is around 1.5V on the CG.  They might be using it to sense when controller is on, but the Vcc turns on and off with CG so it is redundent.

Ok i just got off the phone with with mike... guess xcm doesnt use sync.  I cant see any reason why it all wont work together, but mike suggested moving the xcm connections that are on the right trigger to the left trigger. Also you could try to use the ground that intensafire uses for both of the mods.

sorry about the misdirections above.  But I still recomend putting the button in for intensafire.

@802Chives, that sounds like a good strategy, really appreciate your help.  I'll report back with my results when the xcm and intensafire arrive.

i think you should just move the xcm ground and K to the ground and vvd thast we use for most rf installs it'll work fine.
i found with som rf kits and lit xcm case combos it'll cause light flicker and turn it's delf on and off sometimes
but if you move the 2 connections like i said it should be fine.

Would you mind linking me to an image of the points on the cg board you're referring to.  I finally got the parts today and tried installing the intensifire and the xcm.  I tried using the left trigger for the xcm points but now the left trigger doesn't function and the left bumper button won't light up.  The rest of the buttons light up and the right trigger seems to work properly.  I need some alternate points for the xcm.

Alright I hooked the xcm up to the points it said to in the instructions, over the top of the intensafire and as far as I can tell it works.  COD4 and Halo 3 anyway, haven't tested anything else yet.  No flashing lights or anything, now I'm curious what the guy at llama.com didn't have working.

One question though, in halo 3 navigating the main lobby I have to put the intensafire in a non halo 3 mode to navigate the menu, in game they work fine.  Is that normal?

Can someone help me to as what he meant? Did he place the board in and then solder the wires overtop of it or did he solder the board in, and then solder the wires over that?

I would ask him, but he has no info and I can't contact him in anyway.
