House circuitry help?
« on: September 26, 2009, 04:57:27 PM »
How much can you have plugged in at a time?
I remember my grandpa saying a room has 16A and any more will cause problems...

Is this correct? How much can I have plugged in at a time? Or running?
Will this be okay:
360
360
Home theater a/v receiver
HDTV
Small desktop
Laptop charger
Phone charger
iPod charger
Lamp
Router
Modem
Possibly more?

well you will know if its to much cause your circuit breaker will flip to the off position.

That's it? It won't start a fire or cause any problems, it'll automatically switch off?

well it could catch ur wires on fire.
but ur breaker will switch off if u try to draw too much power
and if every thing in the house went on at once then u might have a breaker switch off

the only time something is going to really start on fire is if you have a short or somthing stupid like that. Most breakers are 20amp I believe, but it all depends on what you got at your house. I wouldnt be to worried about it though. I have as much stuff plugged in as you plus another room in my house is tied in and no problems.

Alright good. My mom's always asking if I have too much plugged in.
That was for future stuff, too.
Right now it's just the lamp, chargers, receiver, router/modem, and my tv and pair of 360s.  Haha
