Can I switch out a macbook powerbook G3 Hard drive into my Dell?
« on: September 23, 2009, 02:15:21 AM »
Okay so I'm gutting the Powerbook G3 2morrow and was wondering if I could make any use out the hard drive because I got like 15GB on my HDD on my Dell and I know the G3 HDD is around 120GB but can't power on the laptop so was figuring that I might be able to use the hard drive in my dell can anyone help me...

Also was thinking if I switched out my hard drive from my dell with the other hard drive from the powerbook G3 then just popped in my XP Pro shouldn't I be able to format the entire drive and still be able to boot my Dell up using the new hard drive????

Please someone get at me email me if I'm not online or post on here I check every few hours...

1. If your "Dell" is a desktop and the Powerbook drive is the same type (IDE/SATA) as the one in the Dell then you can put it in there and it will work, as long as you format it.

2. I have no idea what you mean by your second statement. What do you want to do? Do you want to format the 120 GB drive in your Windows XP?

1.  It all depends on what hdd connection the dell laptop uses.  I believe that the powerbook G3 uses IDE for it's hard drive so your dell has to use ide too.

2.  Yeah all you do is format it and your good to go.
