for the older version (which you have) you still need a spear to extract the keys. If you would like this done, PM me or Treemty as this as a debatable thing to talk about here on acidmods

Only the new liteon dosnt require the spear.

To flash the older liteon you will still need a spear of somesort.

well the mechanical parts seem fine and so does the board but thats just me what hell do i know its really hard to know for sure when i dont have spare parts to test on
 all im sure of is that it doesnt open or close i can manually open it and close it but it wont do anything automaticly and the laser dosent do anything either if i put a game in manually but a few days ago im not sure what i did but the drive opened ... then i closed it useing the xbox control and it didnt want to open again

theres one thing that is a little bit bent up but idk how that affects the drive theres two little metal arms on the left and the right(one pair on each side) the ones on the right were a little bent does anybody know what those might be for?

Hmm that's odd, if you want I've got an extra liteon drive with a modded drive cover for sale if you want to work something out. Or I can attempt to repair your drive for you.

i was guna buy the spear and my friend was guna flash it for me but idk if he'll do it right cause he never used the spear before but ya lets try and work something out

i have a question for anyone thats ever flashed a drive before take your drive apart and take off the little motherboard theres a sticker on it that looks like it has the key written on it just check it out let me know if thats really the key or just some numbers

if not then can some just tell me how many digits are supposed to be in a key
if im right about the key being written on the back of the drive  motherboards everyone that bought the key extractor wasted their money

you are so wrong sir,
all models are flashable, even the brand new ones. Go double check your info before posting.
@lookkool
the lite-on looks exactly the same as benq, just says lite-on on it

I found the thread where its said that the new 83850c cannot be flashed. http://360mods.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=18576&highlight=8385 Look at post 11. Things could have changed.

Ok I found another thread that says you can flash the new drives. I don't think you told us if you're using jungle flasher to flash. Do you have a VIA VT 6421L PCI SATA Card? Or are you using onboard sata? Did you install portio? Make sure you fallow the jungle flasher tut.

LOL... another update... read this... http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=20288
