I'll be doing it on an old pre-nxe launch Xenon soon to get the dvd key back and prep it for Linux.

I hear it works on all models, too.
Anyone try it before?

I've heard about open source on a 360 but what does it let you do?

The JTAG hack let's you read/write to the NAND and get the CPU key and stuff. Using that key, you can recreate the DVD key to flash to a drive to "revive" the 360 and allow it to play games.

Oh, and it opens up the exploit for running Linux.

im actually about to order a cygnos360 for my jasper box here pretty soon and flash the secondary NAND with the JTAG hacked kernel. Should be a fun project, if I ever get a chance to start it

. Or I might just buy a brand new xbox and cygnos it and put it upstairs in my media room

So, if you get a Cygnos360 you can flash a secondary NAND without it being pre-nxe?

Can you remove it afterwards and keep the flashed NAND on the 360?

I never really looked into Cygnos360 but I've heard of it.

yeah with the Cygnos360 v2 you can flash any kernal version to an onboard NAND flash located on the cygnos360 mainboard. Solder up a few wires, attach the switch and it allows you to switch between 2 different NAND flashes(Cygnos one, and the Official Xbox one). It was developed for people who wanted multi-region, but it can be used for JTAG or KingKong. Which would be good for my 360s as I play XbL on them, but with the flip of a switch I can run Linux, or other homebrew. Since it's release/JTAG release the homebrew scene is getting fairly large again, I know I'm getting excited!

yes on the cygnos360 website, it says that it works with all xbox 360 motherboard revisions. And i believe it can only flash the onboard NAND if it is pre-NXE and it has to be a Xenon

what do u mean? the JTAG works on NXE, just not the latest (Summer Update) one. And cygnos bypasses the NAND so NXE doesnt matter

im not sure which kernal version it is.. when i get off xbox live ill check mine, but its pretty much any kernal version before the summer update/current kernal

Onboard NAND. I have a launch Xenon here. I screwed around with it yesterday till I got a clean NAND backup, and now I'm flashing over a Xell Xenon image so I can [hopefully] get my CPU/Xex keys to decrypt my backup for the DVD key.

After I sell one of the other flashed 360s I have, I plan on buying an Infectus w/ the addon and a VGA cable.

yep i done the jtag before on 1 xenon and 2 falcon's, prity easy if you know what you doing and no you dont need cygnos just use the ltp they got on the free60 site pm if u guys need any help

No offense, but it's not nice to come in here claiming you know all of this and hijack my thread.
It was just recently released for the newer 360s.

What did you use to compile the image to flash so it displays the CPU/XEX keys?
I just have a Xell image flashed onto this console, but I plan on doing this to more so I can retrieve the keys but I'm not sure how to compile that specific image.

yeah and if you still want to use the console for XbL you need a Dual NAND which cyagnos does a good job of. or if your like me, my PC doesnt have the correct port available to flash the NAND directly, and the cyagnos can be flashed via USB so that works for me as well.
