filled the ABXY old space, sanded and ready for painting, almost... need finer sanding on the rest of the controller. I used this builders bog crap to fill the holes and I was sceptical but I am really pleased with the outcome and how easy it was to use.



Next up, drill some holes and paint, going to wait for hazers release of modified gameplayrf before I rapid fire. (decided against lugnut hybrid burst code)

edit: primed, forgot date in this pic, but I am trustworthy and swear it is mine.

the abxy tact replacement holes. I also drilled the tact hole for gameplay rf switch this was drilled in the middle of where the old abxy was placed. This will most likely be the last update today, stay tuned because I am planning the digital camo paint-job tomorrow (hope the weather holds out)

oh also, for those who can't watch video's here is my controller shell. Meh looks better in real life. The ABXY pad has disappeared I am so pleased there is no trace what so ever of it and all my mates thought the shell was stock :D



I love led swaps, so tomorrow night I am going to do that, also after school I will head to my local electronics store to pick up the rest of my parts.

I enjoy it I have a pretty steady hand though. I get really frustrated sometimes though, the leds always used to ping out from under my tweezers and fly somewhere into the depth of the carpet.

Arg Im not out of this, I have been sick for the last few days, but this weekend I am going to pack it down and finish it. Having some problems with gameplayrf2 (first time using that code) so I am going to use burnmeup3 since I have used that about 8 times before.

finished rapid fire, burnmeup3 on the face tact switch, rather than sinc. found a nice little spot for the chip here. god I hate hot glue, gets everywhere and the stringy bits are so annoying, after this project never using the stuff again. going to have to clean this up abit.

and slaped two 0603's in the dome.


oh and btw I found a 3 volt switched point on the matrix :taunt: not sure I should be pulling to much current from it though so I'm not going to go overkill on leds, lol guess that destroys any chance of me winning.
anyway everything all fits in without removal the rumbles and hopefully I will get a vid of it up and running in the next few days, then one more final vid after its all finished.

thanks man, closed this all up today and it works. Got a video of it and will hopefully post it today.

3v switched I used is pretty basic, use the positive rail which heads to the player leds then run the negitive to the ground used for rapid fire, and thats worked for me.

yea that was kinda what I was going for. My gameplay has improved heaps with this controller and I am getting like positive 10every cod4 match, It takes some getting used to but once you have your thumbs don't really have to leave the analogs so you are always ready to knife/turn around while jumping/reloading ect. Great for 360collateral no scopes :D

Wows, looks sick as :censored:. Liking the the digital camo pattern, and the overall look.

One thing I would have done different is painted the analog sticks, pad, etc etc, a more contrasty colour than grey. A nice solid black would have been better IMHO.

yea, I was thinking about that, but I wasn't too sure how the paint would work on the rubber of the analogs, then I just decided the rest of the pad is grey so it shouldn't matter that much.

Yea nice job ghost. The paint the rubber kinda worked for me on the skull one i did but its pealing just from the top and thats about it. But its holding together.

yea, well I kinda wan't the paint job to stand the test of time, I will have a look around though there must be some suitable paint for this type of work.

and yea its really fully functionable. Now that I play with it I don't know how I ever played with a normal controller. The design of all controllers is flawed, the fact that you only use trigger fingers and thumbs. Relocating the ABXY allows some of the spare fingers at the back to be used and means you never need to remove your right thumb from analog (unless toggling on rapid fire). This gives you the edge over other players allowing you to look around/knife whilst reloading/jumping/crouching/swapping weapons.

Ultimately the dpad should be relocated, but since its not used as often its not vital. The advantages are really noticeable in halo, ghandi hopping becomes so much easier, plus melee can be done whilst turning around. Plus one of my objectives was to make sure the rumbles stayed in, and I am proud to state that both rumbles are still in, so this controller still allows for the normal gaming experience but gives you a slight edge over other players in multiplayer.

Anyway onto the final pics, Here is the finished controller Project Tear Away.

cheers, I think that'll be my final update. Also I didn't move the analogs due to my left thumb hating ps3 controllers, it only likes the high analogs which is stange since I am ambidextrous.

in order to make paint stick to a rubber or vinyl surface you'd need to go over it with scotchbrite- basically that stuff that's just like the back of a kitchen sponge but scratchier. had to paint a miata/mx5 bumper one time (they're rubber) the only way to get paint to stay on them over time is to scratch them enough to create the right kind of grooves.
i agree with not painting them because by nature, rubber is well- rubbery. and while pretty, dry paint is certainly not rubbery. aka cracking/flaking if the surface underneath is allowed to shift or move underneath the paint... (like rubber does if you press on it)

kudos, that is a sick controller.

thanks dude, yea I think I wil stay away from painting analogs. I mean it might last great for a week or so, but I like my controllers to last ages.
