LED Swap Problem

I'm trying to swap the LEDs in the controller with UV LEDs and they are not lighting up. I put in red LEDs and it works but my friend wants UV. Its the newer PCB controller so does that affect it? I tried like 5 times while destroying 2 LEDs when desoldering them.

u might have the poles wrong, try witching them around.

there is a very good chance that the controller doesn't have enough voltage to power the uv leds.

also check the forward voltage on the uv leds... i did this once with uv 0603 and they only ever worked on AA batteries..
not plug and play batteries
not recharable AA's
just standard AA's

this is because the forward volage was 3.2v-3.8v so the 2.6v from the plug and play battery.
or the 2.4v from the recharable AA's werent enough V
but the 3v you get from 2xAA (1.5v) batteries is just enough to light the led's...
also they will work if the pad is plugged in with plug and play but turn off as soon as its off of charge

What if you just run the leds off their own battery?

This is your fix, fresh AA batteries are a must for UV LED controllers.

thanks mate. they were your led's aswell lol
it bugged me for a few mins why it wasnt working...
then i checked the Forward Voltage on the led's i bought.
cracked out a multimeter and there you go found out that uv LEDs are bad for pads lol
evan with brand new AA's it dont take long for them to dim right down...
you could try a mobile phone battery. like a samsung there small and just fit inside the battery housing...
run at 3.7v
i havent personly tried this yet but am thinking bout it.
i read it on a thread on here somwhere.

That just may be possible. A cellphone battery? Yeah, could work, and they are rechargeable! If you figure out how to do this, pleae let me know!

i the thread i found on here the guy said he charged it using the plug and play kit..... (charge lead)
so yeah in theory it should work....
cant remember who wrote the thread but its here somwhere if you want to search for it....
and yes i will be trying this at some point i just need to wait to get a new phone so i can use my samsung's battery....
