psp disassembly and assembly help!
« on: October 23, 2009, 09:53:15 PM »
okay well i get to take off the face plate, but i'm afraid to go any further cause i'm worried i might not be able to put the little ribbons back on and i might mess up something, and i only see tutorials on disassembling, not assembling, especially not a step by step precise tutorial.

so can anyone make a video of them taking the ribbons that connects the lcd and putting it back? or explain a bit further to me? i have the supplies to make the ring of light mod, and i really want to do it, but that's my only problem.  :help: :help: :help:

wow, this has to be by far the best tutorial on this ever. good quality, VERY explained, though in spanish, but yeah spanish was my first language and it's all i speak at home so it's very very helpful, even if you don't know spanish, visually, it's pretty self explanatory, haha, except there's no assembly guide afterwards =[, i hope it's as easy as it looks. ANYWAYS...........i'm alot more confident about taking it apart now, gonna start the mod soon when i have time, how far is it truly necessary to take it apart to install the ring of light mod? and thanks for the video.

Well 30 gauge is the best wire the fits u put 24 idk if it will fit well. There are other size SMD leds you can use besides 0603.

i tried doing it and failed. i couldn't find small enough wire so i used 24 gauge. FAILED. i messed up the power button. it turns on but the charging light or power light won't light up. also i moved the Rtrigger and it's thing beneath by accident and i can't put it back.

help! please!

never mind...too complicated, agh i should've never tried it in the first place without the proper tools and equipment. i meant the Rtrigger, the gray plastic thing, and it's small little cage beneath it, they all 3 separated. i managed to put them back together but it's a little fat from there, the R still works, sort of, but it doesn't click anymore and feels ugly.

suckier thing is, it's my friends psp, traded my ds for it temporarily, since like june though, so i call it my own. but eventually i'm gonna have to give it back

any idea where i can get a new fat battery? cause i made it into a pandora hardmodding it, and now it's fat and it's hard to fit it in the back and the 3 things aren't fully making contact alot of times. it turns off and on randomly cause of that and the fact the battery autoboots it.

power button led
Rtrigger
battery
lost the bottom screw for the face plate

he's gonna freakin kill me =[

I fail hardcore =[i guess i'll stick to softmodding. thanks alot for your help though.

i wish i could. but i can't, for the same reason i cant order things off the internet. my parents are uncool like that.

i'm gonna give it one last go with acutal 30 gauge wire and hope that the negative solder point is still carrying current even though the power led is dead. (orange led works though when charging...)

3 questions...can i use the enamel coated wire? whatever that is, wire that you scrape the paint off instead of it being plastic? magnet wire

is an ohm resistor completely totally totally necessary? cause i have them, but i find it hard to find a place for it and close the psp.

also i'm not using those small leds, i'm using these other sorta small ones but i melted the plastic solid covering off to make it smaller, and they still work, and are now the appropriate size. what happens if i use those?

you can use the magnet wire but it seems to short out quickly. and if you use the kynar wire you only have to worry about the shorts happening at your joints.
and you can use other leds if you can make them fit. also the bigger ones will get hotter than the smaller ones. if you have a old cell phone you can salvage some small leds from them.

i was so close. i soldered the wires, and the leds worked. got my hopes up, took off the silver ring. tried it again, and i see freaking smoke and it not working. you're right, it shorts out like :censored:...

that's it, i give up for reals. i also messed up the orange charging led, no sign of it charging or being on, and that's and even worse thing with my faulty battery. also the face place doesn't properly close, i have to force it just a tiny bit. and the silver ring in the back isn't put in properly.

i was hoping for the ring of light to be the alternate leds that let you know the psp is on. now theres nothing or even the charging led now. damn this sucks so bad.

i wish i could buy another psp and i'd give that one back to my friend and i'd keep this piece of crud. but i can't afford it.

i didn't think it'd be that hard and so much was at risk.

i guess i deserve it for trying stuff out of my league. that being a "noob". i learned my lesson.

thanks for your help though.
