[Problem] 2 PSP with the same Display problem.
« on: December 01, 2009, 07:14:42 PM »
I have 2 PSP Slim, both have the same problem. The history of the psp black dropped from 4 feet, psp skyblue run over by a car inside in my pack pack, only the LCD broken and replaced it.

::Diagnostic and Repair::

Both I try to resolder the ZIF and luckily the display backs to life of my PSP SkyBlue, then after 2 hours back to the old problem, no display, but the LED back light is still working, I can adjust the brightness level, and I can hear the psp boot up sound, I can tick sound if I move the D pad from left and right, and press O and X, so it means the Software is still working, but there is no display.

See the video here.

Thank you and good day to all.

did you just plug in the backlight ribbon?
Check if the bigger screen ribbon is plugged in all the way.

Already check connections for all the ribbons, already reheat/resolder the ZIF for the LCD.

I don't need to reheat the ZIF for Backlight coz it's working if I press the brightness level.

Thank you for the replies.

Short and sweet,
Both motherboards are broken.

To temporarily get your display to work:
- Put the whole PSP back together
- Push and hold with your thumb between the joystick and the screen, you need to have enough presser there, but don't crack the casing
- While pushing and holding between the joystick and the screen turn on the PSP with the power switch

This is a VERY temporary fix, and it will stop working on you.

If this does work then that diagnoses the problem, and no, there is no fix for this.
The motherboards are just dead, sorry.

Thanks for the reply, putting back together the PSP and pressing between LCD and Analog will not help.

Already reheat the ZIF connector and other parts.

Anyway if there is no solution for this problem, I might replace the Mobo's.

Yeah, there is no solution for this problem.
I know it has happened to a handful of PSP's and people have guessed how to fix it and tried but no one has succeeded. Electronics are getting so small and the factor of error is so high, sometimes just replacing the whole motherboard is just an easier task.

But trust me, its something wrong with the motherboard, some small ass connection point(s) somewhere on the motherboard got unsoldered.
