PSP Speakers Not Working
« on: November 14, 2009, 05:51:47 PM »
I was doing an LED swap for the wifi LED on my PSP. I put the battery in and the LED started glowing, even while the PSP was off. I turned the PSP on, but the speakers would not work. Now the speakers don't work at all. I might have blown the sound fuse. When I plug headphones in, it works.  If the sound fuse was blown, then would the headphones work?

Yep just bridge the sound fuse,

Where is the sound fuse located on the motherboard and how do I bridge it?

EDIT: Never mind. I found the fuse; it's the fuse on the back of the mobo that says LB on it. I just put a glob of solder on it and now the speakers work. What is it for anyway?

Thanks for your help, N.W.A4LIFE. So what would happen now if the same thing happens but the fuse is already bridged? Would it fry the mobo? Just curious. I'm never soldering on a PSP Slim again. The last soldering I did to it is to bridge the sound fuse, and that is the last soldering I will ever do to it. I would rather have a working PSP than a modded one that doesn't work. But I will still do case swaps and custom firmware, just no soldering. And I'll still do triggers on Phat PSP's. The PSP in my signature, which is a Phat, is the only one I have successfully installed LED's in. I broke my first PSP, and traded my second one, the one with LED's, for my Slim, which I installed custom firmware 5.00 m33-6 on.

Once you bridsge it , it dosnt happen again,THe psp will just turn off, and you can turn it on again.

At least that's good news. But then why on Earth would they need to have that stupid fuse? Only the people at Sony know for 100% I guess.
