Very odd psp sound problem
« on: November 16, 2009, 10:12:24 AM »
Okay I got a psp that broken and I fixed it up.  before it was just that the O button wasn't working now it's the sound.   When I turn it on the sound doesn't work but if I put it to sleep and then wake it up the sound magically starts working again.   I can't for the life of me figure out what's the problem.

Any help/ideas?

I don't know what the problem could be, but my PSP's sound completely stopped working. I put a glob of solder on this little fuse on the back of the mobo and the sound started working again.

It's the fuse on top that says LB on it.

the problem is theres a bad connection somewhere e.g. bad solder joint etc.
It's definitely not a short as a short would've resulted in a blown sound fuse, and a blown sound fuse means no sound at all.
First of all bridge the sound fuse and see if that fixes it,if not try new speakers, and be sure to check there's no broken or damaged traces or components around the area.

I'll try but I need some new tips for my soldering iron first and then I'll report back.

I don't know, I bought it like that.  I suspect he/she dropped it.
