Psp XO[]^ buttons not responding very nicely
« on: December 11, 2009, 08:31:02 PM »
ya...title... for the buttons to work, i have to press pretty hard on the O[]^ buttons....the X button is working fine but the others aren't working like normal... please help

i am working on the LED trigger sound reactive mod and when i glue the 0603's into the triggers after soldeirng two wires them, i try soldering those wires to other wires and the wires attached to the leds end up de-soldering and the hot glue melts....

:( help...

do i need to use flux to have a stronger solder??? cause the wires also break off of the led pretty easily too...

:( ideas please

plus, i took a huge gulp of water when downing some pills (coldfx) and it hurt my throat...now it feels weird to swallow...

All I can guess what your doing is useing either too short of a wire that when you heat up the wires to attach more the heat transfers pretty quickly, or your too close.  Try to use only two wires from the trigger to the contact point on the psp.  Also what guage wire are you using?

Get kynar wire because magnet is more common to short and conducts heat easier.

And it sounds like the iron is on the wire for too long. Try using flux to cut that time down and make sure everything is pretinned with solder.

Good Luck

if this is for a phat psp. cut holes out of construction paper and put them between your buttons and your contact pads. keep adding the cut outs untill you like it.( use a hole puncher to make the circle cutouts ;] )

wow thanks, i was thinking of shoving some wads of aluminum foil between the buttons and contact pads... mainly cause the foil wont pack down too much over time

(aluminum foil is NOT used in place of the contact pad's metal thing that completes the circuit......)

i am not really that worried about it right now.... getting ipod touch for xmas... but i still do want my psp to work... i have to hard solder analog stick to mother board and then do that construction paper fillings thing after i finish my sound reactive triggers..

werent you having trouble with the faceplate not closing correctly? something I remember about super glue... the preassure from the faceplate affects the buttons and anolog stick.
