UMD door question

I don't know how to call the thing i wanna ask so... i got a picture for ya...

so... the red circled area ei wanna cut off, and my question is, if it's nessencary for the UMD device, or if it's only helpfull but not nesscencary (I wanna cut it off, because of the UMD Door Mod hole, i made xD)

nope you dont need it chop away, just leave make sure theres enough around the edge to hold down the umd

hmm... i know i don't NEED it... but that looks through the hole like a transformers head -.- Is it really dangerous for some parts in the device or the umd if there is a bit metal missing? XD

E: ah okay.... i didn't understand.... without that "leave" in the sentence it's clear for me... okay, then i'm gonna go on with my mod now, thank you :-)
