Second Mic Port
« on: December 23, 2009, 08:25:39 PM »
i got a male to male cable that connects from my computer to my xbox360 so i can talk to friends using Microsoft Sam :w00t: or play my favorite music in high quality to annoy people.

But i can't talk without changing cables 20,000 times.
so it would be a good idea to paralell two mic in ports to a small N-FET audio mixer then input it into the main audio in.
to be on the safe side a resistor will be added to the 2nd port so if your music is turned all the way up on the computer's output it will ruin the controller's audio circuit.(i learned that the hard way on my friend's xbox360 controller)

any other cool ideas to add?

why not just make it a 3.5 headphone jack instead

i built a schematic diagram of an audio mixer using two 741 op amps which can be picked up at Radioshack for less than 6 bucks.

More Mic inputs can be added, just add another resistor network and input stage.
I avoided using MOFETS because they heat up quick and are usually used in higher power amps/mixers.

R2 and R4 adjust volume of ether or inputs
R7 adjusts master volume
R11 is a ac signal gain to the second 741 (prevents distortion and should NOT be touched once finally tweaked to peak performance)
