Nah, you'd most likely need an amp.
My advice is check to see if your home theater setup has a headphone jack that is ALWAYS active and doesn't shut the speakers off if headphones are connected. Use that as the source for the signals for, say, an lm386. Just have the leds connected that way.
By doing that, you're not messing with your speakers or anything internal. Not sure what setup you've got, but with something expensive like a home theater setup, I'd play it safe and not mess with the insides.
