Sony Computer Entertainment will be taking steps make the next PlayStation more developer-friendly. This includes enlisting in-house developers.
The head of Sony’s network of game developers which will be called Worldwide Studios is Shuhei Yoshida. He recently told Develop Magazine that one of the first things Kaz Hirai the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment did once he gained control over the company’s gaming was bringing Worldwide Studios in on the hardware development.
This would bring in the developers from the very start. This includes conception of new hardware and he demands that everybody at Sony communicate with the developers. Whenever the PS3 was first released many developers said that the console was too hard to create games for. At this time it is unclear what exactly Sony intends to do with there new in-house developers or in what directions it will take the next console but it most certainly should pay off. Since it is such a position change for Sony going from "because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do" to developer friendly.
This is believed to be the right move for Sony, because a console that is easier to develop games for will get more games, more games at the launch of a console will sell more consoles, combined with the sheer power this console will have to have to be the next Playstation it will surely be a power house of a console when we finally see one.
