hey sry bout not doin this yesterday FOOKz... had to tlk with my new girl lol...

ok so in this project im goin to be making a double barrel coil gun w/ 3 or 6 capacitor banks consisting of 4 flash capacitors.... it depends on how many i can get... the reason for the odd number of capacitors is the 3rd bank is going to the 2 projectiles being shot.... my bro really ticked me off... this is how u say uhmm payback.... he took my tattoo gun and put some green ink and put 4 dots on my arm while i was sleepin lol

This isn't how you "return the favor". You don't understand how dangerous a coil gun can be.

How old are you? You seem like you're just a 15 year old kid wanting payback. This isn't the way to do it.

No offense. You need to understand what the hell you're getting yourself into before :censored:ing around with coil guns. You can kill yourself.

lol it has other purposes too... maybe just used to threten him.... idk yet... i have to get these dots ccovered now.... prolly gonna do tht sometime in the next month or so.... but i also need to make 1 to show a buddy of mine i can... he doesnt belive tht i can make 1 xD i told him i could...... sooo, we made a bet $50 each... i make it i get 50 from him i try and i fail he gets 50 from me.... we gave our $ to our good friend and i have 3 weeeks to pull it off

and i understand how dangerouse they are lol... ive had to take some bogous hunting class to get a licence to carry my gun... we were told alll the rules and crap about guns... a coil gun ma be electronic but its a gun none the less... besides i just threw my snake in his room while he was sleepin.... hes sooo afraid of it haha

Coil gun's rate of fire is calculated by:

- Width of magnet wire
- current input
- voltage speed of flux
- binding of wire
- efficiency % of windings
- Magnetic properties of projectile

Even if you have a high powered Capacitor discharge circuit, it wouldn't hurt any more than an airsoft rifle.

But its more electrically dangerous than anything out there.

You need:
- 26 gauge enamel coated magnet wire
- capacitors above the rating 4,700uF
- 2 relays
- 2 normally open push button switches
- a high current power suppy
- a few rare earth magnet rods
- some 8 gauge wire
- solder and soldering iron
- something to wrap your coil around

I will build one with you and i'll post pics here too.

I have built a RailGun Already, more powerful than a coil gun but it takes more skill to make.

No Rail Gun. Just No. If word gets out that acidmods users posts rail gun tuts the US Navy might get on our ass.

PLUS its a lot of physics and math to figure stuff out, im the kind of guy that only tells people how to do something if they are willing to learn, i can tell your not ready for a railgun, its too expensive, capacitors $250 each; 5 capacitors.

I will help you with your coilgun, however start off small scale to get the general idea how it works.

idk but i have a crap load of those cause i work at a dealership detailing cars and the mechanics always give me bearings... where theyre from idk but i use them to hit cans w/ my sling shot... although a bering gun would be alot more fun

They have to be copper plated steel ball bearings to special specifications to be shot from a railgun. I'm not going to disclose.

Dont use galvanized steel ball bearings the gas can kill you.

You need more than a few capacitors to make a really good one, but if you insist in making one out of a disposable camera then be my guest.

Railguns are dangerous because:
- 4x power of coil gun
- nearly illegal in the USA
- high current low voltage
- galvanized steel can kill you when electricity is passed through it because of noxious Zinc Gas
- components are expensive
- capacitors can explode
- step-up power supplies nedded; like my DC arc welder V2

Coilguns are dangerous because:
- You can poke an eye out
- electric shock
- wires get hot
- capacitors can explode

i got the coil winded on a pen, and now im rigging this up to my DC welder as a high voltage power supply.

this is gonna be cool. but i hope the EMP wont kill my computer like last time.

It sends out RF at 500mA RMS above the frequency of a microwave; your nuts will fry, your computer will fry, you won't be able to have kids, and circuit breakers may trip if it amp rating exceeds 70.0% the breaker's limit.

If the EMP isn't any more powerful than 100mA then your OK. Most unwanted EMPs every day are rated at 10mA RMS at 410KHz.

A 100mA EMP is hard to make. Nuke EMPs are 10 AMPs at low microwave level freq. usually around 16.6GHz

im using spare parts man. so this thing won't look pretty.

computer power supply case
toggle on/off switch to charge
power wheels switch
capacitor from a ham radio
some fairly new diodes about a year old
some 10 gauge house wire

I made sure the spare parts' power ratings are estimated 4 times over the power specification.
