configuring ipod for memory support?

The new update allows USB flash drives to be used as memory cards, can i configure my ipod to do the same? The option to configure it comes up when its plugged in, but I don't want to try it and find out it killed my ipod  :dntknw:

....Hahaha...this topic is just..wow.

Phantomz, backup everything on your iPod to your computer and just plug it into the 360. It formats it as a different filesystem. If you don't want to use it anymore, plug it back into your computer and reformat it through iTunes.

couldnt you just set up disk mode on the ipod or partition the ipod and use the spare partition?
