Activision and Bungie ink a deal.
« on: May 01, 2010, 12:38:14 AM »
Long time Halo developer Bungie and your favorite mega-publisher Activision inked a new deal on the 29Th which states any Bungie project for the next ten years will be published exclusively by Activision. Bungie has been shopping around for a new publisher since it's partnership with Microsoft ended back in 2007. Before you start getting worried that we will have another 'duty-gate' on our hands, fear not. Bungie writer Joseph Staten and community manager Brian Jarrard have stated in an interview with IGN that, "We will own what we create and through this partnership, Bungie will have complete ownership of this new IP..." also, Jarrard went on to say that,"We are looking at a multi-platform release, whatever that ends up being." The last time Bungie released a game that wasn't only for 360 as far as home consoles are concerned was Oni, back in 2001.

It was a very smart move for Bungie to have a deal that keeps them independent. I'm almost sure at least a few PR people within Activision are also hoping this announcement keeps people's attention from elsewhere. I am pretty jazzed about the news...as long as whatever they're working on has nothing to do with space, or Marines, or any combination of the two.
