We all love things that a smaller, faster, and more powerful. Well, most of us anyway. If you don't than you might not find this to be the most appealing slice of news on the net but you should keep reading anyway.

A new processor that will not accommodate larger designed notebooks such as those with twelve inch or larger screens has been announced at the recent Computex conference in Taiwan. Intel has announced that they are producing dual-core Atom processors for netbooks. The new Intel technology will enable “Very, very thin form factors with dual-core Atom” Matthew Parker, the General Manager of Intel’s Atom division announced.  He said that future netbooks will become as thin as a half an inch.

At the conference Qualcomm released information stating that they had begun sample shipments of their first Snapdragon Processor which will of course target smart-smart phones like those made by HTC, and netbook like devices which were called “smartbooks”

Qualcomm’s current MSM8x60 chips feature two CPU cores which run at 1.2GHz, a GPU, 2D/3D acceleration engines, 1080p video encode and decoding. A dedicated low audio powered engine, integrated low power gps, and supports 24bit WXGA 1280x800 pixel displays.
