SCPH-50001 Fat PS2 LED Mod & Case Help
« on: August 31, 2008, 03:54:39 PM »
FIrst off, I'd like to state that I have a lot of experience soldering on circuit boards, just none when it comes to finding out voltage.

I recently bought a PS2 and bought all the supplies needed to do a HDD mod (that I know I don't think I will need help with). My main problem right now is finding out how to add in LED's to the PS2. I bought a clear shell and plan on using the system in my girlfriends room to play DivX/Xvid movies. So of course I need lights. All women love shiney things.

I plan on getting 7-11 Blue/Violet LED's and just seeding them throughout the console. I hear there is a place on the controller port piece to put LED's, can I string it all from there? Do I need a resistor?

I appreciate any help, thank you for your time. ^_^

Edit: I just put a clear case on my PS2. It's the non-flip top kind and I'm having some problems with the disk stayin on track (2 round thingies). Any way to fix this?

if the led is blue you usually will not need a resistor but it is used for the safety of the led.resistor calc. please search next time :)
