psp 1000 led mod problem/ Qs
« on: June 30, 2010, 11:44:29 PM »
ok so 0603/0805 leds were 2 small for me 2 work with so i went to the next best thing. 3mm leds :#1: my first 2 arent sound reactive and are between both the button pads. i even put in a dip switch. it works Great... a little tooo Great. they are bright enough to blind someone. my question is how can i make them dimmer?
Note
-parallel circuits were used cause a series circuit was made the leds too dim to see.
and if there is some kind of dip switch that can make the brightness to my choosing i'd love to know the name of it.
-also i used a resistor calculator to get a few resistors that were good but i only used 1 resistor instead of 1per led
-white leds w/ 18 ohm-1/8W-5% resistor

well if u have tried resistors the next best thing i can think of is a potentiometer... but the are kinda big to stuff inside a psp... i mean im sure u can do it considering the fact tht u got 3mm leds in it lol... i typically use 0603 smd leds... but back to ur question... u can pick up a small potentiometer or harvest it from just about any electronic device... i put one on my goggles to be able to adjust the brightness of the leds i put on them worked like a charm... hope this helps

lol look at this crap u can get like 5 bucks a day for doing  poop http://adf.ly/2Knsr
