Modding Your Ps2, Led's, Fan, Paint,
« on: January 18, 2010, 08:35:02 PM »
Ok well ima show you how to custimize your ps2??
Im a newb at this no experience, learn as you go??
Imma be updating it so were starting off from scratch???

Right now im starting my project by doing the spray painting, sanding maybe ill do some cutting also

1st step of my project.
I first dissasemble my ps2 by taking out the 6 screws on the bottom of the system. Flip it over and take off the top of the ps2, dont forget to unhook the little power & eject buttons. Now unscrew the fan and slide the power and av inputs out. I turned my system over and took of the bottom piece.
Prepping.
I had some 320 grit & 1000 grit Waterproof Sandpaper, so I got one of those things you cook the turkey(aluminum pan), filled it up with water and started wet sanding. (Dont forget to sand your fan grill, door face cover, and your expansion bay cover if you are gonna paint them). I sanded everything about 2-3 times, cleaning out the water, letting it dry and sanding it again. When I got done with the 320 grit i used the 1000 grit so it would look better.(For the professionals u could tape up the sony logo's and make it look good, or you could jus paint over them. Right now imma paint it green and apply two coats of clear, I will upload more pics and instructions tommorow.

You don't really need to wet sand until you get into the higher grits like 1000 and 1500.  All wet sanding does is it prevents the pieces that you sand off from getting clogged in the sandpaper.  This is only a factor when the sandpaper is so fine that it makes a difference.
