HELP! on psp nub!

Ok, so i am having the infamous problem of the cursor moving to the top left corner. as most of you know, this means the hardware isnt connected! I have tried messing with the screw tightness, but that doesnt work! i dont want to buy a new piece of rubber and nub, so here are my options:
fix that one, or
use one of my old ps2 nubs! i would like to do this, the only problem is that i do not know how to pin this to the connection, so if any of you know how to do this, that would help!! thank you!

Tried just cleaning the contacts first? XD
