Damaged Wireless CG Traces Help
« on: February 20, 2011, 06:08:00 AM »
Hi guys,

I don't know where to post so I think this is the better place for my problem.

Soldering my chip for Robbo RF, I damaged one of my contact for Y button. The one under the start button (The yellow one on the top diagram)

Someone can help me telling me where I can make a bridge? on the bottom?

Thank you so much for helping...
Cheers

if the copper trace is lifted off and is still there you can make a bridge with some kynar wire or look on for some alternative y points and bridge over one being directly under the y button pad itself

Thanks for your answer...
The copper trace is lifted off and went out...

I'd like to make a bridge over this point (orange one on the photo), by soldering a wire between the black on the photo and another one after the orange one.

Have you got an idea on which point I can use?

Sorry for my english  :cry2:

stick some 30 awg wire in the black circle trace hole and the other end in the orange circle should be fine and splice into the wire and connect the wire from the chip to that it looks on paper like it will work give it a go good luck

it depends on where the damage to the trace is, would you mind either posting an actual pic of the damage, or marking on the pic you've been using where the damage actually is. you'll probably have a rough time doing it like in the second pic as the first yellow trace (not at the chip) is under the trigger assembly...

I can't do nothing with the orange one.
The whole contact is gone, si I can sold nothing on it... That's why I'm looking for another one behind.

I think I will try to sold on the chip... but I made a mistack, it's not the 10th but the 12...!?

Edit: (didn't see the answer)
I don't know how to say in english that is the "pellet" in orange that is fully gone... (the last one before the chip I think)

OK I think what yo're going to have to do (because it will most likely be the easiest) is solder a wire to the other end of the trace that is damaged, and run it around to the back side of the board and solder it to the correct leg of the chip.

yeah, follow that trace to the other end and solder a jumper wire to the via (the little hole) at the other end and then run a jumper around back to the correct leg on the chip.

no problem, just use very little solder when attaching to the chip and make sure that you don't cut through the copper when cleaning off the via

use desoldering braid to remove the solder from between the legs...
