For the buttons did you sand away the stock buttons and stick the 9mm casings over them, or did you use just the casings and filled them with something, I'm really Intrigued by this.  :tup: BTW i would kill somebody for your painting skizzles.

Thanks guys! yeah he better like this damn thing lol.  I just used the casings and filled them with hot glue. But cutting the original buttons and using the bottoms is a really good idea too. Ill try that on my next one.  I was gonna do the 12g dpad and a 30-30 center button but im flying home today for Christmas and wouldn't have enough time to do it. Definitely going to do it on my next one though!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Very nicely done crazy. Personally I prefer to use just the casings and fill them with hot glue, it works far better than cutting and sanding down the stock buttons with less chance of coming out crooked. The method you used is probably the same one that I use. 9mm buttons definitely go very well with the 12gauge dpad.

As for the 30-30 guide button I will warn you that a 30-30 is not the best size to use go the guide button. The guide button is actually bigger than a 30-30. There is a shell that is the perfect size for the guide but they're not common an quite hard to find, though off hand I can't remember what it is. The only time I've seen the guide done was with a 30-30 and all the guy did was cut the cap off a 30-30 and glue it tithe top of a guide button. Like with the ABXY, I don't recommend this method.

I am currently working on a tut for the 9mm ABXY buttons (it got held up while I was looking for methods to improve the process of cutting the tabs for the casings, but it is coming soon hopefully...

Ive already made a 30-30 guide button. All you do is cut the top off of the X guide button and the 30-30 shell slides right inside. I painted the green part of the guide button black so all you see is the top of the 30-30 casing, it turned out very nice.

There're always more ways than one to accomplish a goal. Personally I'm looking for a shell to replace the button without having to mod the stock button. I like having the ability to return the controller to stock, so I don't like to cut up my stock buttons. Besides, I think it looks cleaner when the shells are all that's used, but to each his own.

12.7mm= 1/2inch diameter which would be.50 bmg shell :)

12.7mm divided by 25.4 just incase no one knew that :)

Lol yup, you have to cut them to size too. The 9mm casings are longer than the actual abxy buttons. So take a marker and mark where to cut, you also have to cut the notch in the 9mm casing so it doesnt fall out of the hole.

I have a 9mm abxy tut coming this weekend. I just have to watermark the images.

As for cutting the casings, I use a dremel to trim them down and cut the tabs. I use a butane torch to heat the casing before bending the tabs (otherwise they break easily). Use your original abxy buttons to make a template so you can mark the correct position for th tabs.

I get my casings from my in-laws (they all carry 9mm for their conceal and carry.

That's correct (at least in my case), my father-in-law goes to the firing range and just collects his empty casings for me after he's finished with target practice. If you order casings online they may come to you with active primers (the little round metal piece in the middle). You can still use them like that with no worries (takes quite a bit to set them off).

If you don't want to (or aren't able to) order online, you can always stop by your local firing range and talk to the people that run it, they'll usually let you sift through their trash for empties. Sometimes they'll charge you (if they save and reload the empties they collect) sometimes they won't, but that way you can find some interesting sizes to use on other buttons (and it'll give you some old school dumpster diving satisfaction ;) ).

Check the phone book, almost every town in the states has one close by (you may not even know it's there), or ask at a local hunting supply store if they know where one is close by. I'm in Texas, so there is an overabundance of them here (it's almost like there's one on every corner)... Texans love their guns... Lol
