It appears that i have blown a chip on the underside of my motherboard. After research i have found that it controls the bd drive voltages and without it, no working bd drive. This seems to have put me out of the competition this year unless i find a fix, or enough money to go and buy a new ps3. Pics below but it seems like a lost hope for a fix

awwwww... why don't you install CFW on it and remove the drive... then you can do something creative with all the extra space!.. also if youd like read me the numbers off the chip and i'll see if i got one on one of my ylod ps3's i can ship it to you C.O.D. i'd hate to see someone out because of something like this

Yea ive been looking at the cfw but i have 3.55 so ill do some searching, pretty sure their is one. thanks for the offer for the chip but i don't think its something that can be replaced (just by the way its integrated into the board).

I realize that this is probably not the best topic for this conversation but i just put it back together and popped in a game, and it worked? from my understanding that chip controls the blue-ray power and i should not be able to do this. If anyone has any info on the chip it would be appreciated. other than that i suppose ill continue working on it (unless it decides to blow my entire ps3 up).

don't know anything about that chip specifically but as for CFW all of the current working ones are 3.55 so you'd be able to pick any one you'd like

i dont think that you should carve your mod off number i think you should carve out your legit acid mods name but leave it censored out so people can't see.

Fookz I dont think he plans on cutting out his entry number, pretty sure the number is just there as a verification that the design is his plus they say you need to include your ID number in all your pics. Just a thought though, he may actually want his ID # but I doubt it.

lol no i was not planning on carving my id number

laser etched the back today, looks pretty cool but it seems like the plastic more melted then cut, but i suppose it gives it a more rugged acid feel ,kinda.

Attached is a picture of the finished etch, will probably be posting a video soon of the actual job being done.
Next ill probably be painting a design on the front and back (most likely a green colour). possibly be adding a fan or two

That fan setup you got goin' they're legit. Those fans dont have a duct around it... they probably aren't super powerful.

hahaha thats a lot of soldering. turning out to be pretty sick. watch out for shorts because they might touch something.

Well needed something lit up on the back so i used plexi on the sides to give it a glow, was mainly trying to make the acidmods etch light up from them but it didn't really work. still looks cool tho

The engraved etch has to be deeper and scratch up the surface of the cut so the light hits it.

still looks cool. Now i see where the fan is supposed to be.. at first i had no freakin clue what you were going to do with it.
